Lumbar spine problems

protruding disc Prolapse

is one of the health complications that is often faced not only by older but also younger generations of patients. The symptoms of a prolapsed disc are always related to the place where the prolapse occurred. Unpleasant back pain shooting into individual limbs is typical, which may be accompanied by tingling or tingling sensations. Disc herniation can most often occur in the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spines. If a patient has a prolapsed disc, there are several possible solutions. There is conservative treatment, disc herniation operation, laser treatment, special exercises and other alternative methods. Overall health problems with back pain are related to many factors:

  • Older age (decreases disc elasticity)
  • Overweight or obesity
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Genetic predispositions
  • Heavy manual work
  • Repeated uneven loading of the spine
  • Excessive and unsuitable load during sports
  • One-sided static load
  •

Diagnostics

The patient should see a doctor when he or she experiences severe back pain and a loss of sensitivity and mobility of the limbs. In order for a neurologist to correctly determine that it is a prolapsed disc, other causes of the problem must be ruled out. An X-ray examination of the spine, CT or magnetic resonance imaging is used for this purpose. The degree of involvement of the surrounding nerves is then measured by EMG examination.
